Michael Tighe Pittsburgh PA Death Obituary – It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Michael James Tighe, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. Michael, a cherished resident of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, tragically passed away on May 21, 2025, at the age of 35. He was born on June 23, 1989, in Pittsburgh, where he lived his entire life, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Michael was a proud graduate of the Class of 2007 from Thomas Jefferson High School. Even at an early age, Michael exhibited a remarkable combination of academic strength and an insatiable curiosity. His love for technology and design led him to pursue an associate’s degree in computer drafting from P.T.I. (Pittsburgh Technical Institute). This passion turned into a career, and for ten years, he worked as a computer draftsman at Elliot. Michael was known for his precision and dedication to his craft, always pushing the boundaries of what was possible with his designs.
Beyond his academic and professional achievements, Michael was a person defined by his adventurous spirit. Despite facing significant physical challenges, he lived a life full of excitement and vitality. His love for outdoor activities never wavered. Whether it was tearing through dirt trails on a quad or modifying a go-kart to suit his wheelchair, Michael refused to let his circumstances dictate his sense of freedom. Even more impressive was his ability to infuse fun and adventure into the everyday, often cruising on electric scooters with his faithful dog, Buster, by his side. The bond between Michael and Buster was one of mutual companionship and joy, with many unforgettable moments shared between the two.
Michael’s friendship with close friends Chris and Puckey was also an important part of his life. Together, they enjoyed many spirited adventures, often including Buster, who became a beloved member of their group. The image of Buster needing a ride home after an afternoon of fun is just one example of the lighthearted moments that defined Michael’s approach to life—always making the best of every situation.
To his family, Michael was more than a son or brother—he was a hero. His mother, Sandy, shared a particularly close and special bond with him. The two were often described as “two peas in a pod,” and their relationship exemplified the unconditional love that defined Michael’s family life. As an uncle, Michael was a guiding presence in his nephew Ryan’s life, filling him with adventure, laughter, and inspiration. Michael’s passing leaves a deep void, but his legacy of warmth, resilience, and love lives on through his family and friends.
Michael is survived by his loving parents, James “Jim” and Sandy Tighe; his sister, Kelly (Rob) Lips; his brother, Sean Tighe; his nephew, Ryan; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who were blessed to know him.
A celebration of Michael’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. A private burial will take place at a later time.
In honor of Michael’s generous spirit, memorial contributions can be made to the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, 4401 Penn Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15224.
Michael James Tighe will be remembered for his courage, his adventurous heart, and his deep love for his family and friends. His memory will live on in all who knew him, inspiring others to live life boldly, with an open heart and an unyielding spirit.
